Latest Updates from Our Project:
Thank You (We Funded at $743!) + Next Steps
That said, a few things need to happen before I can kick off production and fulfillment.
Here's a quick rundown:
First, BackerKit needs to transfer over the funds so I have the money to make the rewards (this can take up to two weeks).
Second, I have to find out information regarding rewards and how and where I'll be shipping them. I’ll send out a BackerKit survey to collect this information.
I’ll give you a heads-up before I send the survey so you can watch for it. You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. The invitation email contains a link to your personal survey. It is important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since I need this information to process your rewards.
If you need to change your survey responses, purchase add-on items, or update your shipping information, you can click the link in your survey email again or request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on my BackerKit project page. (This page will only start working after I send the surveys out.)
Answering your survey helps me get your rewards out to you faster. BackerKit helps me save lots of time by streamlining the survey process, automating data organization, and providing us with pledge management software to make it easy to process your pledge reward shipments.
If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your crowdfunding account, the BackerKit survey link is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address you prefer to use, please contact me.
Again, thanks for all your support! I can’t wait to send you your copy of Blood Ties: A Collection of Three Covenant of Blood Shorts and all the other goodies from the campaign!
🚨🚨One Hour Left To Back This Campaign! 🚨🚨

Hey, hey Bloodlings!
There's only about an hour left before this campaign ends, so this is your last chance to back this project before we close out of Booktopia. So, here's a list of the gifts that we've unlocked.
As we complete this campaign, please share the link one last time!
Again, thank you sooooo much for supporting me this far! We're down to the last two hours of the campaign, so I thought it was fitting that we end it with a bang! And by bang, I mean a story. So, I'm going to tell you all about:
🩸That Time I Became Inspired to Become a Writer🩸
🩸All creatives have that defining moment: The day someone encourages them to follow their dream for the first time, and the day they decide to follow through.
🩸For me, the former occurred in the third grade, and the latter happened in sixth grade. But, let's focus on the former for now.
🩸When I was in elementary and middle school, I almost always finished my work early because the assignments came easily to me. Which meant I had two options: Talk or read. My instructors hated it when I talked, always marking my progress reports as "Talkative" or "Talks too much during class" and getting me in trouble at home--now, I realize the issue was just that I was bored and the work wasn't challenging enough, but I digress. So, the only other option was to read books.
🩸But, eventually, I no longer just wanted to read about the places in the fictional universes that shaped my young mine. Instead, I wanted to create them. So, I began writing fiction stories in class during our writing time.
🩸In the third grade, my teacher--Mrs. Weinstein--came across one of the stories I wrote during our free write assignment. I'm not sure what happened in the story, but I do remember it being about a little swamp girl.
🩸Mrs. Weinstein read it, looked at me, and--I swear--said, "Great job, Jaleesa. You should be a writer some day."
🩸I beamed with happiness because, while I've always had a supportive family, this was the first person outside my home who thought I had real potential. Twenty-three years later and I'm living my best life as a writer.
🩸To this day, I'm not sure why Mrs. Weinstein thought to say those words to me. Was she predicting the future? Was she just being polite? Or, did she really think I had potential to hack it in the writing industry? I may never know since I haven't seen her since then, but I do know this: Her words of encouragement shaped me into who I am. WIthout her, I don't think I'd be here now, celebrating the funding of this BackerKit project!
XOXO

The Final Countdown!

Hey, hey Bloodlings!🩸🩸🩸💉💉💉
Well, it's that time: The Final Countdown. ⏱️⏱️⏱️
In less than 24 hours, Booktopia will be over and your chance to grab a hard copy of Blood Ties will dissappear until mid to late 2025 (or later depending on a few factors). 🏃🏾♀️💨🏃🏾♀️💨🏃🏾♀️💨
Thank you everyone for supporting this project and making it a reality!
Haruhi and I are still hoping we get a chance to hit $1000 before the campaign ends tomorrow, but if we're left at $713, I'll take the win.
That said, I wanted to remind y'all about the cross-collab rewards one more time.
If you back mine and Anna McCluskey's project, The Bloody Unicorn and Other Delightfully Dark Drinks, you'll get a pin set.
We're still working on the production, but here's a sneak peek of what my half might look like:
I'm also participating in the Oracle Card cross-collab project. Remember that the more you back, the more cards you can collect.
My partners are J.C. Spark and Georgina Stancer. If you back all three of our projects, you'll get nine cards!
And, in case your wondering, I'm still waiting on the finalized art for my third Oracle Card, but this is the early version of it:
The rest of the Oracle Cards look like this:
Other than that, I can't wait to start fulfilling pledges. ❤️❤️❤️😁😁😁
While I wait for the finalized art, my next steps are to:
1. Add the artwork to the Blood Ties manuscript;
2. Get the ISBN;
3. Register the copyright; and
4. Order a proof copy
But, I'll let y'all know how that goes and give you an update on when to expect your items.🥰🥰🥰
Gaaaaahhhhh! I'm soooooo excited y'all! 🎊🎊🎊🥳🥳🥳🪅🪅🪅
Anyways, keep sharing the project with friends so we can get that extra special bookmark! 🔖🔖🔖

Less Than 48 Hours To Go Bloodlings!

– Tue, Sep 24, 2024 at 10:48:36 PM
What's up Bloodlings!
I'm not sure if you heard, but we're down to the final days of my BackerKit Campaign.
There's less than 48 hours left to claim your rewards, so if you haven't pledged to get the new copy of Blood Ties, now's your chance.
Here's a reminder of the themes you'll find in the book:
Also, Bloodling of Mine, if you haven't read The Covenant of Blood yet, this is the perfect time to grab it as well, since you can get both items shipped together.
And, the best part is, the higher we fund, the more goodies that will be available! Right now, we're sitting at a little over $700, but if we hit $1000, y'all get to decide on a design for a bookmark!
So, be sure to check out the campaign before it's too late.
Also, don't forget to take a look at all the other Booktopia projects ending on 26 September! Here's a few of the images:
Along with me, these projects are participating in Oracle Cards:
The Warm Machine | Lesbians in Space | Dire Contact | The Fractured Balance | Nuclear Strudel | Mermaid Song | Gamer | The Bright Spot | Like Warm Plastic | Weave of a Thousand Lies | The Eyes of Mandoral | Sombulus | Violet's Pretty Purple Playground | Shuttered Stanzas | First Life Duet | Blood Ties | Ruthless Wolves | Silver Series of Grown Up Wisdom | My Body Beeps | Reimagined: The Relic Saga
If you're still on the fence about whether or not you should back my campaign, watch the short video below to see what each tier offers because, at the end of the day, this project only happens if you support me.
And, if you missed my live streams of my author reading with my cross-collab partner Anna McCluskey and the other Booktopia participants, check out this video:

Last, you might have missed my live stream with Kidlit author Rella. Here's a replay of that video too to get an idea of why this project is important to me.
